Yancy's Personal Training (4)
“When I first contacted Yancy Culp he was one of three people that I reached out to in my quest for reaching a very important goal in my life. All three people returned my call; two of the three without hesitation told me that what I wanted to do could not be done in the amount of time that I had provided. Mr. Culp met with me in person; we discussed my goals and a sports injury that I had recently acquired. I told Mr. Culp that I needed a running coach to meet my goal of running 1.5 miles in under 15 minutes. I also explained that I had to work around my knee injury and that I could not do any running without my doctor’s release, which I did not have at the time. I then informed Mr. Culp that I had four months to accomplish this goal. Mr. Culp made a few calculations on his paperwork and then looked up and said it could be done. It was at this very moment that Mr. Culp began to stand out. From this point on the training began. We started off with medicine ball workouts and walking. We worked out in the dark of night, on the cold days, on weekdays and on weekends. It did not take long for me to see that my goal became his goal. Mr. Culp always paid special attention to my injury making sure that we did not aggravate the injury in any way. The very day I was released to run we started running. The progress we made on the running was absolutely unbelievable. Not only did I complete our first run, which I was sure I would not be able to complete, but I made the run in 18 minutes. With every run I did Mr. Culp ran with me with encouraging words every step of the way…the best words came when he said, “you’re a runner.” During an incidental conversation that we were having during warm-up one day, I mentioned that another part of my goal was to complete a set of obstacles and push-ups. He wondered why I hadn’t told him about this earlier but immediately started working on a plan after I gave a brief explanation of the obstacle course layout. Imagine my surprise when I arrived at the next training session to see a series of mock obstacles. I was so moved to see the effort that he put in to make sure I would get the most out of my workout. I hired him as a running coach, but he went beyond that to help me with my other goals as well. He far exceeded my expectations. On one of the greatest days of my life, I accomplished my goals and completed the 1.5 mile in 14 minutes and finished the obstacle course well under the allotted time. Yancy never gave up; Yancy never let me give up. I sought a running coach…what I got was a running coach, a personal trainer, a life coach, but more than that I met someone who changed my life – a person who helped me achieve a life long dream. What he did for me, I could never repay him for."

"Yancy,
I can't thank you enough for all that you have done for Trent and I through the boot camp and athlete training programs. We have both seen big gains in strength, speed, and cardio. Mr. cardio was tested recently during my 20th wedding anniversary trip to Vegas. While walking down the strip after a show I was knocked down by a gentleman being chased by police. The policeman fell so I joined the chase. Was I surprised as I reeled him in about a block later. After asking him to get on the ground (3) times and him not doing so, I used my martial arts training to take him to the ground and restrain him until police arrived. There is no way I would have been able to do this 2-3 months ago. It has been one year since I had open heart surgery (aortic valve replacement), and I can honestly say I feel FANTASTIC. I am addicted to your program and look forward to it every week. Your professionalism, attitude, knowledge, passion, and dedication are to be commended. YOU inspire all of us, as we are fortunate to know you, your family, and sCULPturetexas."

"Yancy,
I just want to thank you and Desmond for all the hard work and training you have put into Zac's development and preparation for High School Football. Zac started working out with you last Fall - sometime late September. Even though Zac was in pretty good shape for a middle school athlete, he still needed a competitive advantage with high school closing in. As most folks know, the 40 yard dash is a key evaluation component for "skill" position players in football. Zac started out with you running a 5.4. Not a horrible time for a 13 year old - but not something to brag about either. So after 9 months of your intense workouts and some excellent speed training with Desmond, my 14 year old son turned in a 4.8 for the Cedar Park HS coaching staff today. A 4.8 on tired and wobbly legs at the end of a grueling 2 hour workout! No way on earth he could have shaved over half a second in less than a year without you and Desmond. Zac's new goal is to break into the 4.5's before his soph. season and then break into the 4.4's before he finishes high school - so we are in your program for the long run."
Thanks, H. Horne
