Desmond Bynum
Athlete Training Program Coach
Desmond Bynum is a young sprinter with tremendous talent and a bright future in track and field. He brings this talent to the sCULPture team as a coach for the Athlete Training Program. Desmond’s running times have allowed him to compete against some of the best athletes in the world. After just barely missing the 2004 Olympic Trials, he has remained adamant about making it to the next Olympic Games in 2008. His focus has only increased and his times continue to drop significantly as each year passes. The most amazing thing that Desmond possesses is his dedication to the sport.
He has maintained an elite level of performance while working 40 hours a week as an IT Manager, and while also being a graduate student. If that was not hard enough he still performs at an elite level without a coach or training partners. This dedication has led to a better understanding of the sport and a thorough knowledge of his capabilities. As a collegiate athlete he broke many school records and led his team to their first conference championship in school history. In high school, Desmond began his track career as a high jumper and long jumper. He then became a walk on freshman when he entered college as a jumper. He did not start sprinting until the end of his freshman year in college. This earned him scholarship rewards for his last two years of college eligibility.
